July - aka "the month of Colten"

July really has belonged to Colten, mainly because it starts out that way with his birthday on the very first day!!!  SEVEN years ago our very first child was born, and what a blessing he was and is!!!  He is ALL BOY and don't ever tell him otherwise.  This kid is into every sport and will try just about anything to test his abilities.  He's a go-getter and just a very cool boy!!!  We are immensely blessed to call him son and brother (Cambry would agree most of the time).  Cannot wait to see what this life holds for him, he's bound to do incredible things!!!

new Aggie cap and jersey

We are also full-swing into summer basketball and he enjoys every single minute of practice and the games.  It helps having your daddy as coach, they both share a great love of the game.  He's doing awesome, a great defensive player and scores several baskets each game.  He's really getting the logistics and fundamentals of the game down.

Our fourth of July was very laid back this year and a nice little "break" mid-week.  I'm including it with Colten's post because it was much about him.  We stayed home that morning and were heading to some friends' house for swimming and grilling out.  RIGHT before we were to leave Caleb and Colten went on a bike ride.  Soon after they are back home and Caleb asks me to come to the garage.  Colten's foot had slipped off his pedal and he had fallen off his bike and down HARD on the pavement, right on his elbow.  Luckily nothing was broken, just a huge gash right above his elbow.  We both agreed he might need stitches and Caleb took him in.  The girls and I went ahead to the party and Caleb and Colten met up with us after the trip to the med clinic.  Luckily the gash was not close enough to the elbow to require stitches, just some good strips to close it up.  We wrapped it in plastic and he dove into the pool!!!  Later that evening back at home, the big kids got to stay up and watch fireworks with us from our back balcony.  We could see them in every direction, it was remarkable!!!

having so much fun
Just last week, Colten attended Marketplace at our church, our VBS for three nights.  Cambry is not quite old enough, but still wanted to be in costume.  He loved it and had a great time with all the activities each night.  It helped that his cousin Chance was able to come down and go, too!!!
